Thomas Rose is a graduate of San Francisco State University
(B.A., 1962) and Mills College (M.F.A., 1973).
Former symphony work includes Principal Clarinet positions with Ft. Wayne Philharmonic and Oklahoma Symphony. He recently retired after twenty two years as Orchestra Personnel Manager at San Francisco Ballet. He has been Principal Clarinetist with Music in the Mountains Festival (Grass Valley) since its founding, in 1982, where has performed the Copland and Mozart clarinet concertos numerous times, along with other solo works.
Locally he is very active in chamber music, performing in duo with pianist Miles Graber and with Trio Brillante - clarinet, viola and piano. He has also performed solos with Oakland Chamber Orchestra and San Francisco Concerto Orchestra. He released a CD of music for clarinet and piano with pianist Miles Graber in 2004. Their second CD in this series is due for release in the summer of 2010.
